Alternative Weekends: 6 events in Bangalore on June 21/22 you shouldn’t miss

A Candy Bazar for kids, multiple athletics competitions, an International Music Festival, and more events in Bangalore this weekend!

1. Candy Bazar at the Taj Vivanta

Where: Vivanta by Taj on MG Road

Time: 9:30 AM to 8 PM

Have a day out with your kids at the Candy Bazar! This year, the Bazar has gone organic, so head over to the Taj Vivanta to grab some 100% organic kids wear and handmade accessories. And if the little ones get tired of shopping, the Bazar has got you covered. Drop them off at the special lounge for kids and teens or pick up some healthy and fun food from their many stalls. Entry is free.


 2. TAD 2014 (Triathlon, Aquathlon, Duathlon)


When: Sunday, June 22

Where: DPS Bangalore (East) in Sarjapur, Dommasandra Post, Bangalore

Time: 6:30 AM onwards

If you belong to the running, cycling, or swimming communities in Bangalore (and even if you don’t), this year’s TAD is the place to meet and compete. If competition is not your cup of tea, come anyway and hang out with your fellow athletes.

Fee: Rs. 500 for Aquathlon and Duathlon, Rs.750 for the competitive Triathlon


 3. Fête de la Musique (International Music Festival)


When: Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22

Where: Alliance Française at No. 108, Thimmaiah Road, Vasanthnagar, Bangalore

Time: 11 AM to 10 PM

This weekend, Alliance Française de Bangalore is featuring the talents of 46 different bands and musicians encompassing a wide variety of genres. From contemporary rock to Indian classical to acappella, jazz fusion, and retro piano, this fête has something for everyone. Entry is free.


 4. Raja Deen Dayal Vintage Photograph Exhibition


When: Saturday, June 21 onwards

Where: National Gallery of Modern Art at No. 49, Manikyavel Mansion, Palace Road

Time: 10 AM to 5 PM

Pull back the veil of time through this rare collection of photographs from Raja Deen Dayal. The exhibition offers a glimpse into 19th century life in India, with photos and negatives of royalty, the people, and landscapes.


 5. Wildlife Conservation and You 2014

When: Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22

Where: Azim Premji University at Block ‘B,’ First Floor, Room No 103, Hosur Road, Electronic City

Time: 8:30 AM to 5 PM

Register quickly for the second edition of the two-day WCY conference.  6. 100th Exhibition of Cartoons


When: Saturday, June 21 and Sunday, June 22

Where: Indian Cartoon Gallery at 1, Midford House, Midford Garden, MG Road

Time: 11 AM onwards

Cartoon enthusiasts, join the Indian Institute of Cartoonists this weekend to celebrate the seventh anniversary of the Indian Cartoon Gallery! The exhibition will display the work of 103 cartoonists from across India. Entry is free.
