How Pune’s segregating its sanitary waste effectively

Thanks to SWaCH, a self owned cooperative of waste pickers, sanitary waste is now being responsibly segregated in Pune.

India’s first wholly owned cooperative of self employed waste pickers, SWaCH are on a drive to promote waste segregation. They have introduced new ‘SWaCH Yellow Bags’, which can be used to dispose sanitary waste, like napkins and diapers, thus facilitating the much needed segregation of this particular class of waste.

Based in Pune, SWaCH has already done some great work in the field of waste segregation and are now addressing the serious problem of sanitary waste, especially napkins and diapers being thrown into the common trash. Click here to see how reusable sanitary napkins could be a step forward.
