The Young India Fellowship at Ashoka University is now accepting applications for admission for the class of 2016-17. This unique Fellowship is now in its fifth year and has rapidly become one of the most sought- after programmes in the country. The Fellowship fosters India’s academic, social and business leaders of tomorrow through a multidisciplinary liberal education. The number of applicants to the Fellowship has been increasing consistently every year. In 2015, the number of registered applicants was 18344, almost four times that in the inaugural year of 2011. To meet this increasing demand, the number of seats has now been increased to 225.

The Young India Fellowship (YIF) is a Post Graduate Programme of the Ashoka University, supported by a network of well-known corporate leaders, social activists, researchers and entrepreneurs. It is a one-year postgraduate programme in Liberal Studies. It brings together a group of bright young men and women from across the country and diverse disciplines and trains them to become socially committed change agents for the future.

YIF is delivered in collaboration with University of Pennsylvania’s School of Engineering and Applied Science (SEAS); Carleton College; University of California, Berkeley; University of Michigan; King’s College, London; Trinity College, Dublin and Sciences Po, Paris.

YIF offers full and partial scholarships to successful applicants and there is no fee for applying to the programme.

Eligibility

The YIF programme is open to:

  • Those with a recognised undergraduate or postgraduate degree
  • Those who are no more than 28 years of age on 31st May, 2016

The Fellowship promotes diversity and applicants from all areas of specialisation are encouraged to apply. While applicants who have been educated in a vernacular language as their medium of instruction are welcome, it is expected that they will be able to converse, read and write in English, since the medium of instruction is English.

Admission process for the Class of 2016 opens on August 20th, 2015 and will close on February 29th, 2016.

The admission process is split into two rounds:

Round 1

Admissions open on – 20th August, 2015

Last date to submit application – 15th Dec, 2015

In-person interview for Round 1 applicants- 20th Nov, 2015- 29th Feb, 2016

Final offers to 1st-round applicants- 1st Feb- 29th Feb, 2016

Round 2

Admissions open on- 16th Dec, 2015

Last date to submit application- 29th Feb, 2016

In- person interview for Round 2 applicants- 15th Mar- 15th May, 2016

Final offers to applicants interviewed for 2nd round- 15th April- 20th May, 2016
