SunEdison helps 700 Ramakrishna Mission Trust students become energy independent

This donation from SunEdison will allow the mission to increase its energy independence and free up resources to help them focus on vocational training and providing universal education to students.


SunEdison Inc is installing a 100 kilowatt solar rooftop on the Ramakrishna Mission Student’s Home as part of its’ Social Innovations mission to bring energy independence to 20 million people by 2020. This will enable approximately 700 students to be energy independent. The new solar installation will help raise revenue for the Mission when extra electricity will be generated.

SunEdison is the world’s largest renewable energy development company that manufactures solar technology and develops finances, installs, own and operate wind and solar plants.

The Ramakrishna Mission, founded by Sri Ramakrishna and his disciple Vivekananda, works in health care, disaster relief, tribal welfare, elementary and higher education and culture. The mission subscribes to the ancient Hindu philosophy of Vedanta, and is affiliated with the Ramakrishna Math Monastery, with whom it shares members. It’s centers in India and abroad has always striven to reduce pollution by using clean and efficient technologies.
