Watch these children at risk sing a song they’ve written themselves

NGO Vidya and Music Basti collaborate to work with children at risk, giving them music and songwriting lessons.

“Sapno Ki Duniya”, was composed by students of Music Basti as part of a song-writing project at the NGO Vidya’s community center in Papankalan, Dwarka, Sector 3. The children’s song talks about the world of dreams and aspirations, how while they may be young they are not small, but are in fact the conquerers of their dreams. This project was led by Teaching Artists Ipshita Roy and Shantanu Chaudhary from Music Basti.

This song writing project is part of Music Basti’s “Re-Sound” program, a 6 month community music program introduced in 2013. The objective of the program is to introduce music-learning and song-writing through a group based, creative, and fun methodology, with at-risk children and youth in the NCR.

The project is working with over 100 children across selected non-governmental organization partners working for education, rehabilitation, and child welfare in communities, including Okhla Industrial Area, Mehrauli, Kapashera, Papankalan Dwarka, and Mahipalpur. Re-Sound is being led by a select and trained group of 20 musicians working as Teaching Artists in the program.
